Cold-pressed oils are antioxidants, immune-boosting components and contain substances that stimulate the healing process and more.
Two fat acids that are vital to our body, which means that the body can't produce them by itself:
- Linoleic Acid (LA) -- Omega 6
- Alpha-linolenic Acid (ALA) -- Omega 3
There are four additional acid fatty acids that are considered to be required in a conditional manner, which means it is possible to obtain these from the two other by using the correct cofactors:
- Gamma-linolenic Acid (GLA)
- Arachidonic Acid (AA)
- Eicosapentaenoic Acid (EPA)
- Docosahexaenoic Acid (DHA)
All oils and fats comprise a mixture of saturated, monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fat acids.
We'll then determine which are the most beneficial cold-pressed oils.
Olive Oil
Extra virgin, cold-pressed olive oil can be found during Phase 4 in the GAPS Introduction Diet and is used as a key component of each GAPS meal...with the right reason. Olive oil is an oil people have been using for centuries and have had health benefits.
It's awash in antioxidants, such as the natural Vitamin E, which defend tissues and cells against damage from free radicals. It has anti-inflammatory and healing effects, and stimulates the flow of bile (important to digest fats and preventing constipation) and increases the production of pancreatic and liver enzymes, which have anticancer effects as well as an anti-bacterial, anti-viral property. It's been demonstrated to boost the brain's maturing process and functioning.
It's not a lot in terms of the two essential fat acids...which suggests that there are additional substances that are essential, in addition to Omega-3 as well as Omega-6...such like beta carotene phytosterols, squalene, chlorophyll triterpenic compounds, etc.
It's also a great source of the oleic acid (Omega-9) that can in strengthening your TH1 part of our immunity body (allergies and autoimmune diseases are signs that there is TH2 dominant). These essential substances can be easily destroyed by refining or the heat. It is suggested that olive oil be purchased, and served cold-pressed, unrefined and raw, as it is prone to damage from heat.
Find pure, unrefined and organic extra pure olive oil that comes from a producer that you can trust. A lot all olive oils available on the market has been mixed with less expensive vegetable oils, such as canola (3).
Extra virgin generally signifies that olive oil is refined at low temperature and has not been treated with any chemicals. Unfiltered is the ideal choice.
One of the many uses of olive oil is the ability to remove excessive earwax. If your children have the ear wax, just a few drops of olive oil every day, for between 1 and 2 weeks, will work wonders.
Olive oil, when infused with garlic and/or mullein oil, may help in treating ear infections too. These kinds of formulas are typically sold at the health stores.
Coconut Oil
Coconut oil is anti-fungal, anti-viral , and anti-parasitic. It's got lauric acid that is a precursor for monolaurin...an active antimicrobial fat. Lauric acid can also be found within milk of your infant. It helps protect against infections and helps to maintain healthy colon bacteria (where the majority of your immune system's cells are located).
Monolaurin can be effective against pathogens like Candida Albicans, helicobacter pylori, HIV virus, measles virus, herpesvirus, cytomegalovirus Epstein-Barr virus, influenza and many more. Coconut oil also has the fatty acids caprylic acid and myristic acid, which are antiviral, antibacterial and anti-fungal.
It's excellent for cooking as well as for athletic energy, oil pulling, moisturizing just to mention some of the numerous applications. The best part is that coconut oil can provide long-lasting energy, without the weight increase.
It is beneficial to consume coconut oil regularly on a daily basis. If you're taking it for therapeutic reasons for adults, you will need to consume 3 to 8 tablespoons per day. Like all oils that you consume, it is vital that you understand the process it goes through. Coconut oil made from virgin coconut is the ideal and can cook with since it has a great temperature tolerance.

Flax Oil
Flaxseed oil or flaxseed is well-known due to the high content of Omega-3. more than 60 percent of its composition of fatty acids (quality manufacturers).
Be cautious when combining the oil which is too heavy in one of the fatty acids or another.
It is recommended to incorporate an assortment of foods within your diet. If you are suffering from an autoimmune condition, such as fibrocystic breasts, or other hormonal problems and have a problem with your hormones, walnut oil is a better option over flax.
